What Polar Bears Do In Winter

In the summer at the zoo, polar bears splash around in the swim tank.  So in winter, do they skate on that swim tank?

I used Mojo Monday's sketch and created this card.  I love the blustery blue paper and the swirls of gold.  I embossed some gold swirls on the background paper and then a few more on the front papers.  It gives it a look of blustery fun.

Magic Card Well, Just Optical Illusion

I just recently saw how a magic card works and was so intrigued.  The image is black and white but when you pull on it, it magically appears colored!  This is probably old school for you, but I saw this light bulb image and thought is would work perfectly into a magic card.

I wanted the outside to be kinda plain so it would be more dramatical when you opened it.  I used white embossing powder to create this front cover.  I am playing with Catch Bug Bingo and used not designer paper, a button and a sentiment.

Now you pull on the tab and a colored image appears magically!

How fun is this?

Winter Wonderland

Hitting the scrap box to make this Christmas card.  It reminds me of all the hours my siblings enjoyed the snow covered sledding trail.  Then the hours sledding with my children. Using scraps, a little glitter and a Memory Box die cut, this Winter Wonderland was created.

Distressed Sunflower

I saw a picture of a quilt block that had the sunflower in the upper corner and the wording straight across.  I liked the image and wanted to turn it into a card.  I used the STAMPloations sketch challenge for November.

First I took distress paint and created the area behind the sunflower.  Using black embossing powder, the words, sunflower and background was made.  I used Copic markers to color the leaves.
I wanted a distressed look on the background paper.

Let It Snow

I am just loving MHK Designs new releases.  It is snowing here today and I am working on Christmas cards for my siblings.

I had a strip of scrap paper from a 12x12 sheet from when we made boxes.  It was pearly and looked like a snowy, blustery day.  The sentiment is tucked in one of the cut strips.  Snowflakes were punched out of scrap pearly white paper.  Bling and a silver ribbon was added.

Santa's sipping his Coffee

Using a Java Card Line Art image of Santa with a cup of coffee, and some pretty festive paper, this fun card was created.

Monika was kind enough to give me this image and when I found paper to use, it looked vintage.  I ran Old Paper DI over the image and colored it with Copics.  Swirls of steam were added to Santa's coffee.  Sparkly red ribbon and a few gems were added.

Momma's Got A New Pair Of Shoes

My canvas has expanded!  Today, I am upcycling shoes.  A pair of beige high heel shoes to be exact!  Since there are no high heel shoes in my closet, my niece dpmate a gently used  pair.  I had three requirements...the highest heels she could find, closed toed and smooth.  I wanted to make a decoration for my craft room using stamps.  I adore this Hope Blooms set from STAMPlorations.

Now, who alters shoes?  I watched the Home and Family show and they used comic books to alter their shoes.  The sold for around $150 a pair.  I wondered if I could use my stamps, what could I lose...a pair of shoes, some craft supplies and time.

I started by coloring the heels and ridge on the shoe black with a Sharpie marker.I

I took two sheets  of copy paper and stamped on it.   You will be cutting this into squares and rectangles so just stamp randomly on the paper.

Gelatos time!  I put a lot of orange in the center of the butterfly and took my finger to spread it out in the wings.  Then I took a brush and Mustard Seed DI and put three blotches of color on each image.

Since it is best to work in squares and rectangles, I cut my finished paper into shapes.

Using Mod Podge, the images were randomly applied to the shoes.  On the outside front of the shoe, I wanted the image and Bloom to show so that is the only place I was paticular.

Once the shoes were all covered, I put a layer of Mod Podge over the entire shoe.  Then, it dries overnight.  As you see on the picture there is some overhang on the bottom of the shoe so using an Exacto knife, remove this.  Since I wanted a shiny heel, I decide to use a gloss black acrylic paint and redo the heel and sole.  Then it was time to stencil.  I tightly held the stencil in the open white spaces and took Black Soot DI and rubbed it in the stencil.

I wanted the shoes to look like they were on display at an expensive shoe store.  I had a clear jewlry box and put it under the toe of one shoe and put that heel in the heel of the other shoe.  I used tissue paper, flowers, greenery, bling, and ribbon to complete this project.

I love the finished project and it will be the centerpiece in my craft room!

Skating By

MHK designs posted a little preview on facebook of a new release they were working on.  When I saw it, I could not wait for the release.  Mynn released it early and it was time to CRAFT!

I used distressed sprays to create the background.  Then I cut a stencil using my Martha Stewart snowflake punch and pushed some versa mark through the stencil.  A little clear embossing poweder and the four snowflakes in the background sparkle and glisten.

After downloading the image and coloring it with Copics, I wanted it a bit more vintage,   I went over the image with Old Paper DI and edged it with Vintage Photo DI.  I die cut some embellishments and added some bling.  I just love this image and the way the card turned out.

Thanks From The Herd

Being from Wisconsin, cows and barns are part of the scenery.  Right now, pumpkins line the outside of retail stores.  I love this time of the year and I pause to give thanks as there is much to be thankful for.

Using a SGVcuts file, this adorable barn was cut out.  The front of the barn was embossed and decorated with the doors.  Pumpkins, a banner, candy and a sticker were added to the barn.  I can not wait to send this out!!  A special envelope was made and extra postage will be required

Little Houses On The Hillside

Coming to a town near you...perhaps this is the town in which you live!

I just got this stamp set and decided it was time to ink it up!  I love the little houses and wanted to use fun, vibrant colors.  On the  CASEs of Suchi's vibrant colors and Kim's card from the November CASEplorations challenge.  I like how Kim has the weight at the bottom of the card, so I decided to do that.  The background looked a little to open to me so a sun fit in perfectly.   I wanted the sentiment to be able to be read against the dark background so I used white embossing powder.  I took a little bike die cut and colored it.  It fits in perfectly in this little town!!

True North

There is no one that likes newsprint more than me!  So on my care, I inked up my new True North stamp set and cut up my recently received magazine!

I chose a kraft base. I took newsprint and distressed it and then edged it with Vintage Photo DI for the next layer.  Then comes a  layer with wood grain embossed with Vintage Photo DI. The next piece is a die cut, rubberd with Old Paper DI, edged in Vintage Photo and stamped with Mixed Media Grunge and the sentiment from True North.  A newsprint circle rubbed in Old Paper DI and edged with Vintage Photo DI is a perfect place for a popped up ship to set.  Natural twine was tied on to complete the card.

I just love this stamp set and the sentiments are so nice.

Moustache I Say Merry Christmas

I saw this darling cup image on JCLA and I love moustache images!  I do not know why, but moustache images make me smile!

I made a background with Antique Linen, Barn Door Red and Mowed Lawn distress sprays.  Then I took a stencil with Black Soot distress ink.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  I went around the edges and pulled color  into the center.  The eyes and moustache are popped up.  Then I stamped the images around the outside of the card.  I completed it with grey and black lines, and glitter to create snow.  A Merry Christmas banner was put on.

This image is called  "Couple Cup of Coffee

My Knight In Shining Armor Is A Harley Davidson Biker In Leather

Ricky and I have had a lot of fun riding our Harley's.  We have gone to rallys and Sturgis.  One great thing about motorcycle riders is if you are broke down on the side of the road, the code is to stop and help the motorcyclist.

One of the hardest things I think I have done is getting my motorcycle license.  You have to do a figure eight in a small box without going outside of the lines.  You also have to have all four of your extremities engaged in the operation of the cycle.  Ufda!

I used a digi stamp, Peacock Feathers  and Spiced Marmelade DI to create the background.  Then I used black acrylic paint for the splatters.  Black gloss paint created the leather jacket.  There is a chip board A, metal brads, stamped words and letters cut from the Cricut.  On the word "shining"  Antique Brass distress paint was added.  The detail at the upper top was stamped with black ink.  Just a note, the stamped words and image at the upper left corner are from STAMPlorations sets.

Cup and Jar of Coffee

My sister in law is hosting a pre holiday coffee party for me and my four other siblings.  This is such a fun time to get together with my siblings to visit and spend time together.  I know she will create food goodies and be a hostess to the mostest!  I wanted to make her a thank you card for hosting this event.

I am using an image from  JCLA   It is called "Cup and Jar of Coffee".

My friend Monika, Creative With Monika also made a card using the same image.

'Tis The Season To Be Jolly

We were sitting around a campfire and my friend introudced me to this wonderful couple.  Tom and Lisa.  Tom is from Germany and every time he used the word  and it was und.  Everytime I heard und I had a little smile on my face.  He told me how he met another guy around the campfire.  Tom wanted to go hunting and this guy taught him how to hunt.  They have been hunting ever since on the hill.  The hill was where we were at having the campfire.

Later, we got to talking about stamping cards.  They invited me and my friend over to make the best dumplings.  I wanted to make them a Christmas card and I thought this was perfect

I used a digital image called "Holiday Deer" from MHK Designs.  I printed it two times.  The first layer is my base.  I cut out the area around the deer's horns so I could make a window for my sentiment.  The second print was cut apart to lift some boughs.  I used a wood grain embossing folder with black ink to create the wood panel.  Then I stamped the sentiment and embossed it with black.   I had to trim a little on the design to make sure all the sentiment showed. I put a piece of acetate between the image and wood grain panel.  I added glitter to the mountain tops and boughs.  Then I put three red gems for a pop of color.

I was forced to clean my craft room to find a piece of acetate!!   I also need some acetate because I made my grandson a little card on the Cricut.  I put the acetate behind the dino skeleton to make it look like an Xray!!

Stamps Used: MHK Designs and a vintage sentiment stamp.

There was an opening so it was time to see what would happen!  I love this Tribal stencil and it is getting used!   I stamped the butterfly and thanks and embossed it with black embossing powder.  I taped the stencil over my paper and pushed versa mark through the holes, avoiding the sentiment and butterfly..  Then I removed the stencil and put clear embossing powder on and heated it.  I distressed the edges with Worn Lipstick DI and where the embossed stenciling was it picked up the color.  Well, this is a cool look.  then I stamped the corners with versa mark and used black embossing powder again.  Not only did the stamped area show black, the stencil did too.  Yeah, I like it.  Then Worn Lipstick DI with a paint brush was added to the butterfly.  I put more in the center and lightened it toward the outside.  A little glitter was added to the frilly edges of the butterfly.

Whats Brewing

There is somethning new brewing at JCLA .  It is a new ETSY shop with images you can purchase.  There are several  coffee images along with other images.    What perfect images to use for the Holiday Coffee Lovers bloghop in December!      This image is called "Lady in batik with her coffee".

I colored the image with Copics and DI.  I ran the blue paper through Peacock Feathers DI and after drying through an embossing folder.  A die cut and banner were added.

My friend Monika is the shop owner.  Creative With Monika
She made a card using the same image. It amazes me how different cards look using the same image with a different card style and dfferent colors.  Here is a look at Monika's card.

Hetty from Craft Chaos used an embossing folder and gelatos to create her wonderful background.  Here is a peek at her card
