Embossed Butterfly

Love spring and seeing everything come back to life. Julie, my sister, loves butterflies. While at her house that seemed to be the theme of our cards. I took a white cardstock and rubbed Old Paper DI on it. Then I took a stamp with specks and Vintage Photo DI and stamped it over that. An embossing folder rubbed with Close to Cocoa was placed two times on the cardstock and rolled through the Cuttlebug just to the edge of the image I wanted. It is funny in the lower center of the butterfly the word precious shows up. I stamped the sentiment and added the orange and black cardstock. A few bits of bling and I love this card!!

Shery used hexagons and I used rectangles. The hexagon shapes are filled with color and the rectangles are filled with color and words. The design on both cards cover the whole card.

Thankful

One of the flowers I think is beautiful is the poppy. I love the red ones, the orange ones and the salmon ones. That dark center with the vivid color is gorgeous.

So, a poppy card it will be. I took a piece of cardstork cut to the size of the image and placed a double sided sticker sheet on top of it. Then I took a poppy sticker and placed it on the top of the double sided sticker sheet. Ultra fine glitter was sprinkled over the entire surface and burnished into the sticker sheet. Then, copic markers colored the areas that were colored. Make sure the tips of the markers are cleaned off after doing this. Once that was done, I used STAMPlorations sketch #30 and their Blossom Overture set to complete the card.

Happy Easter

This card was started by making the background. I took scraps and placed them on a sticker sheet. Then embossing powder went over the sticker sheet and I pushed it down in the cracks. After heating the embossing powder, you have a handmade background that has used up some scraps. Where to go from here? Since it is spring(the second day of spring) and the colors in the backgrpund have yellow, ducks...they are reminders of spring!! I have had this stamp and dug it out to make its debut!
The STAMPlorations sketch #30 will be perfect. http://stamplorations.blogspot.com/2015/03/bi-weekly-sketch-challenge-30.html

As you can see, tabs, my favorite were added. The duck trio includes paper pieced bills and they are small!! With the ducks swimming in the water they so cute and reflects a spring scene!!

Got Her Wings

A spring mixed media tag today. I stamped the background. Then I found the sentiment in a magazine. I fussy cut the chickadee and popped it up. The flowers were dipped in a DI and enamel dots were added to their center.

This little chickadee got her wings and now she can fly and capture all the world has to offer!

Signs of Spring

The signs of spring are appearing...trees starting to bud, robins looking for worms, snow has dissapeared and the weather is warming. I love spring! I thought a butterfly would be a perfect ushering in of all the wonders of this season. My sister Julie and I got together to play. After shopping and spending, it was time to use our new supplies. We cut a butterfly with a die off to the side of white cardstock. Julie has a Copic airbrush system that we used. A stencil was put down and four colors, yellow, green, purple and blue were used. Then we stamped with the same colors on the cardstock. We placed the cut out butterfly in its position and added enamel dots. I love the look of this card and have decided I love the airbursh system too!!

Daisy

Eureka! I achieved a negative image of a stencil. I love the Bubbles stencil from STAMPlorations but I really like the negative image. I sprayed the stencil with a green glimmer mist. Then I pressed the stencil on newsprint. Note to self...the mist dries lighter than it goes on. I stamped a Daisy from STAMPlorations Bloom Sketches set. Then, I cut it out, colored the center and added some bling. I dipped the cardstock in Mowed Lawn DI and then spritzed it to try to get different texture on the cardstock.

It has been fun learning about stencils and using them. They can create great backgrounds.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I have wanted to try stenciling and embossing paste for a while. I would see Becca post her creations and call and ask how she did it. Patiently she would explain. That would satisfy me until I saw another post. Becca would get another call asking how she had done her creation. Patiently Becca would explain. Sunday, when she posted her first post on the STAMPloration blog hop I asked how to stencil using the negative and Monday she explained it on her post http://www.damselofdistressedcards.blogspot.com/2015/03/stencils-and-spray-stains.html
. Well, Becca, I think my questions have been answered. (Thank goodness, I think she would have quit answering the phone)!! I am so thankful Shery at STAMPlorations is doing the blog hop to give us insite on how to use stencils. The design team have posted great inspiration projects.

I have wanted to use this stamp set by Stamps by Judith for a long time. It is ten plus years old and not used yet. I really wanted a negative imprint of the Bubbles ARTplorations stencil but settled for the positive imprint. After stenciling on the cardstock, by using a sponge and Spiced Marmalade DI
I stamped and cut out the cat, mouse, sign, bird and fish images. Then they were colored and glued on the card. Then I drew lines with the Zig marker to connect them.

Let's Try Stenciling

STAMPlorations is having an ARTplorations stencil blog hop. The challenge this month is stencils and stamps. I have never used stencils on cards before and was a little apprehensive about doing so. After looking at the design teams inspirations, and reading tutorials, I was ready to give it a whirl. I took some newsprint, a long piece to make two cards. If it turned out I would have two cards. If it did not turn out, newsprint is cheap. Using Mowed Lawn DI with a stencil and sponge applied it to the card to get the green background. Then, I took a stencil and embossing paste and picked three roses. I smeared the paste on the roses, lifted my stencil and washed it. After the paste dried, I used a sponge and colored the roses with Worn Lipstick DI. I wanted dark highlights so I directly applied the DI to the petals. I sponged some yellow around the roses. I tattered the edges of the paper and added the sentiment. Not bad for a first attempt.

Then I decided to make orange roses. I sponged Spiced Marmalade DI on the rose and then used the DIdirectly on the petals for the darker color.

Just a tip, the newsprint wrinkles with moisture. Also, make sure your newsprint is right side up!!

A Whimsical Hello

This card makes me feel like I am in an enchanted forest. I love tabs and anytime I can use them on a card I will!! House of Cards has an use enamel dot challenge and STAMPlorations has a sketch challenge.
Using whimsical paper, layering was done. A file tab stamped with hello added the sentiment. Squares stamped and cut out with circles and enamel dots made flowers. Leaves were punched and a stem was cut out. There are more items added but the sketch is still recognizable and it is fun to see where you can go with a sketch!

No Sprinkles please

I just got this stamp that says "Today I bought a cupcake without the sprinkles. Diets are hard." When I saw the confetti challenge at Cupcake Inspirations, I thought it would be fun to use the stamp. Patterned paper were layered and sequins(sprinkles) were place on the seams. The cupcake is a digi stamp from Scribbles Designs.

Sparkle

Wow, Cupcake Inspirations is celebrating their 300th challenge and what fun challenges they have!! Is anything better than sparkle? I love sunflowers and how their heads turn toward the sun. A little glitz with sparkle and they are even more fun!
This card will be entered into the sparkle challenge at Cupcake Inspirationshttp://cupcakeinspirations.blogspot.com/2015/03/300th-challenge-celebration-sparkle.html

On the CASE with coffee

I am on the CASE with coffee. Oh, let me explain. STAMPlorations http://stamplorations.blogspot.com/2015/03/caseplorations-march.html#more
has begun a CASEplorations where they post cards each week made by the team. You are invited to CASE the cards and post your card to the Inspiration CASE playground http://stamplorations.blogspot.com/search/label/CASEplorations

I chose Shirley's card. I love all the color but the garland is so fun and that got my attention.

I wanted to stick with the coffee theme for the Coffee Lovers Bloghop. I used words from a background stamp and dipped them in different color distress ink. I stamped sploches on the white paper, strung the line and added the cut words to make the garland. Then I stamped the coffee cups and cut them out.

Shirley, thanks for the inspiration!

You should check out her Spotlight projects inspired by artists. They are really neat.

Coffee Love

I want to thank Amy for hosting the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop and for all the hared work she has put in behind the scenes. Amy, you have done a fantastic job and there are over three hundred submissions!! I love all the creativity!

I love the deep, dark, rich color of coffee. Bringing spring in, I think of yellow flowers and Monarch butterflies. I cut the letters out on the cricut and colored them black. The edges of the brown cardstock were inked. I used the Martha Stewart butterfly punch for the monarch. Some thread was added to the roses for a whimsical look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Eat Cake

Bugaboo http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/2015/02/photo-inspiration-challenge-at-bugaboo.html has a fun challenge going on this week. Here is the photo inspiration.

What I capture is writing and cake. So I made a birthday card with this kitchen chicken-whisk preparing to make the cake.

You're My Cup of Coffee

Today I have CASEd an inspirational project post #4 from STAMPlorations. Vicki created a fun card.

I decided to make a coffee themed card for the Spring Coffee Lover's Bloghop. I have just started using tape on cards and this worked out well. Nice and springy, I think.

Thanks for stoping by and enjoy the hop!!

A recipe for coffee

In the 2014 Holiday Coffee Lover's Bloghop, there were some great recipes posted.

I decided to get ready to capture those recipes and I have not seen any...boo hoo. Oh well, I made a recipe card holder as it is so easy to find the recipe I am looking for if it is in a special folder. It also make the recipe box look so cool.

I cut out the folder and distressed it. Since it is white core cardstock a little sandpaper makes quick distressing. Then I put a Brad on to anchor the ribbon. I stamped coffee/cpcpa on a beoge cardstock and the circle with coffee for 5cents. This is an old See Dee's stamp set and when is the last time you have seen coffee for a nickle?

Then I stamped the recipe card and glued it in the inside.

Now, I am just waiting for those wonderful recipes!! Enjoy the hop.
