Lift Me Higher

Yesterday, it happened...our first snow of this season!  Yes, that four letter word appeared...SNOW!  What a perfect time to finish my first MHK designs card.  I used sparkling silver paper around the image and next to the card base.  Then, I used a stencil and added glitter to make it sparkle!  After coloring the image, I wanted to add green trees and stamped them with a chevron print to add some texture.  It is a little difficult to see.

Spooky

Time for a cute, fun,  spooky Halloween card.

Using a stencil and Black Soot DI, the background spider web was created.  On the front paper, Halloween words were added.  Spiced Marmelade, Mowed Lawn and Dusty Concord DL was blended in various areas.  Spooky was stamped and embossed. Black Soot DI was blended on the edges and corners.  Bats and a Mummy were added to complete the card.

Barnyard Stars

I have seen a lot of coloring on kraft tutorials lately and wanted to try it.  I stamped the chicken/duck barnyard group on a tag.  Then I colored them with Copics.  I used a stencil with Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed DI for the stars.  Three stars were chosen and glittter was added.  A strip along the side, stamped zig zags and a sentiment makes this barnyard card rock!

Sparkle and Shine

Sparkle and shine are perfect words to describe my sister, Paula.  She is the baby and her heart is so kindhearted, I wanted to make her a special birthday card.

Using my  Shutters stencil, I pushed versa mark through it.  Then I put Sparkle embossing powder over that and heated it.  OOH, it is so sparkly!  Then, I used black embossing powder for the rose and the sentiment.  I colored the rose and leaves with Copic markers.  Then I went around the square with my Copic marker to add the boarder.  Glitter was added to the rose.

Fall Treat Bag

I just love this new image from Bugaboo.  This little squirrel just steals your heart!  I took the image and colore it with my Copics.  Then I layered it on a top note and cut out some leaf dies.  I added ribbon and a clothes pin for my 3D object.  It is a fall, bugaboo image.

The inside holds chex mix but I added candy corn to make a perfect fall treat.  It looks so cool in a serving bowl with the fall colors.  If you use the red, green and white candy corn it instantly turns into a Christmas treat!

Fall Flower

Have you heard?  STAMPlorations is having an October stamp release blog hop and fall flower linky party!

You can use any stamp but if you use STAMPloration stamps, you can enter two times!!

I ran wax paper through a leaf embossing folder and then ironed it in a glossy paper sandwich to create two backgrounds.  One I used on this card and the other is going to Norway.  Then, I sponged green on the background bringing out the leaves.  I wanted to try a new technique I read.  You use alcohol inks and peroxide.  put your ink on the paper and spritz with peroxice to meove the ink. I used currant and eggplant alcohol inks.  After it dried, I used Concord Grape DI and stenciled tribal swirls in the corner.  As you can see, the leaf pattern carries through adding great texture to the card.  I stamped a daisy and butterflies, fussy cut them, and added them to the card.  Punched leaves, a sentiment and base card finishes this project.

Second Print

This card is for the children in a domestic violence situation.

In my Childhood post, I told you I had gotten a second print. If you look closely, you will see the tribal swirsl in a very light print. I absolutely loved the print as a background and did not want to cover much of it up. I stamped and embossed the image. OOPS, I have a "smears" to you.  That is what my sister Julie and I call our goofs!  It looks like the boy is playing with a ball but that is a smears I made. Since it looked like a ball, I left it. Childhood

This card is for the children who are in a domestic violence situation.

If you have ever read one of Becca's post, you will often see the word "MESSY". I thought it would be fun to try to duplicate one of her
techniques. It indeed was very MESSY!! I even had to call Becca to get instructions!!

I took the STAMPlorations stencil and distress paint and three pieces of cardstock. The first piece I put the distress paint through the stencil . The second piece I placed on top of the stencil to use the paint that did not go through the stencil. This is the second print and a cool print. The third piece I did a third print from the ink still left on top of the stencil after the second print. I will post that card tomorrow. Needless to say, there was purple all over!! The cool thing though, is that you get three cards!!

After the paint dried, I went around the white parts with a black pen. OOPS, some I was not very accurate on. When you put the card together it really all blends in.  CASing one of Mynn's  cards  from On A Stampage:

I embossed the image in black and added purple buttons.  And my Childhood card was created.

BLOGAVERSARY Bike for coasting into year TWO!

Whoo Hoo! What a fun day. Today is my one year blogaversary! It all started with Jingle Belles Pink Challenge and I have been hooked on blogging since! I am using up my stash and have some great cards in the completed and ready to send out box!!

One fun part about blogging is that it is your art. An expression of yourself.  Everyone looks at art differently.  Some like the CAS look, some mixed media.   There are many styles of cards.  I look at cards like material...I like all of them!! I do not have to keep my cards because they are on the web. It will be a legacy I leave my three boys.  You have different moods, feelings, styles that are expressed on paper. I love to try different techniques and seeing what comes from the creation!!

I wanted to do something fresh, lighthearted and fun so I made this card to coast into year two on. I received this die cut from my CCC friend. If you are not a part of CCC, here is the info. It is fun to get a card from somewhere in the world and sometimes there is a little sumpin, sumpin  The sign up for November is currently open and here is the link http://dominodebi.typepad.com/sos/2015/10/november-2015-card-chain-challenge-sign-up.html

After using this bike as a stencil on yesterdays card (Bike for Becca) it was purple.  I wanted a black bike so I dipped it in my black ink pad.  Then I stamped the butterflies and cut them out.  I stamped the geometrical shapes and colored them in.  Happy Birthday was stamped and the BLOGAVERSARY card was created!

Since it is purple and my cards to raise awareness for domestic violence are being donated, they will go to a neighbor who works with people going through domestic violence in the community.

Stamps used: STAMPlorations and a vintage Stamping Up

Fight Like A Girl

October is breast cancer awareness month.  Along with the pink color, I always think the card should be glitzy.

I started out with a magazine page and applied some punched ribbons with gesso.  Gelatos were used over the pink ribbons to give it the background color.  Next, I used a stencil and Tattered Rose distress spray.  A black marker added some grunge to the edge.  The sentiment and circles were stamped in black.  A large ribbon and trees were stamped and glittered.

Autumn Flight

The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting cooler and the birds are flying south!

Using Spiced Marmalade DI, the top note was sponged, with some areas lighter and others darker. A stencil was place on top and sponged with black soot DI.  I also sponged the edges with black soot.    Trees were die cut and added, along with a moon sponged  with the same colors Really Rust was used to highlight around the trees.   Glimmer mist was added to the moon. Weeds, geese and greeting were added.

Take Me Away!

Hi!
Today's guest designer is Julie Andersson from Minnesota, who happens to be my sister. She created a card that speaks to domestic violence.  The background is made of pieces of paper that represent the shattered lives of those affected by DV.  She took pieces of scrap paper and cut them into irregular shapes and layed them on sticker paper, leaving small spaces between them.  Once the page was filled, gold embossing powder was sprinkled over it which stuck to the sticker, and then embossed.   Take me away to a better place....

gelatos and stencils

On this card, I tried new techniques: gelatos and stencils.  So this card is for the new beginnings when people resolve a DV situation.  It is also for the person who instigates DV to change their behavior.

Flutter

This card is for the person in a domestic violence relationship that flutters between the explosive episodes and is trying to decide how to resolve the situation.

You are not the only person that has had a DV situation and there is help out there if you reach for it.

For this card, I got my watercolors and stencils out.

Snowman Angel

This is one of my favorite stamps. I love the stick hair and the little heart on the snowman's chest.

I embossed the background paper with a snowflake folder. Red and black are a great color combo. After I stamped and colored the snowman, glitter was put over the entire image.

Ombre Butterflies

With a little help from the wax paper in the kitchen cupboard, Ombre Butterflies was created.

To make the background, a piece of wax paper was run through an embossing folder. Then, the wax paper was sandwiched between to shets of glossy paper. Because the wax is on both sides, this will make two backgrounds. Now, iron your sandwich to get the wax to resist when you apply the ink to the glossy paper. Then one piece of paper was brayered using a Kalidescope ink pad. Take a paper towel and rub the paper to make the white shine through. I absolutely love the look the background has and did not want to cover much of it up.

Butterflies were staped and fussy cut.

Here is another look

Grapes Of Wrath

One of the meanings of Grapes of Wrath is an explosive condition. Another meaning is an unjust or oppressive situation or oolicy that may inflame desire for vengence. Domestic violence can be just that. This card is for when the domestic violence become the explosive condition.

When I first made my prints, I did not make the first print. I put the paper over to make the negative print or second print and wasted a lot of paint. That is when Becca got the call for instuructions!! When I made the print, there were some distressed areas. I thought it looked cool. Then I wanted to use purple grapes but wondered if they would show against the bold background. I decided to seperate it a little with green leaves and pop some of the grape bunches up. I added a green ribbon. There are also three purple gems on the popped bunches of grapes.
