A Daisy Day

Playing with the acrylic paints again, as I just love the background it creates.

Yellow and white paint was put on the craft mat and brayered out.  Putting the Shutters stencil down, I brayered over that. I was attempting to get a darker yellow at the bottom of the card.  Then, I had a foil lace piece that I put glossy black paint on...and waited for it to dry...and waited,,,and waited.  I think because the foil was glossy...ther would be no drying.  So, I turned it over and rubbed it on the cardstock.  That looks cool.  It did finally dry!!  It is not midnight yet!!

I took several sets and stamped the background.  Then I took the daisy stamp and stamped a daisy and fussy cut it.  The center was colored and glitter was added.  The sentiment is from the daisy set and it was white embossed on black.  A ribbon was added under the daisy and...A Daisy Day was created.  I thought about edging it with black cardstock but decided to do something different.

All stamps used are from STAMPlorations and ARTplorations.

Fabulous

I was fortunate to win this peacock digi from A Day For Daisies.  I saw it and instantly wanted to color it but did not know how to start.  While looking through a quilt book, there it was...a peacock quilt.

I colored the image and then dusted gold Pearl Ex on it.  There are just some things I do not use often and I do not know if this container was EVER opened.  It dulled down the bright colors and gave the whole card a shine...just like a peacock.

Then I embossed the sentiment with a gold embossing powder.  I thought the card was done but then I spied BLING!  After all, this peacock is fabulous!

Have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by.

Hello, Sunshine

April showers bring May flowers but...Hello, Sunshine...you come too!

These rainy days are perfect to stay inside an create!  I have been playing around with my brayer and acrylic paint to create backgrounds.  I put yellow, white and oragne on a craft mat and rolled it around.  Then I put a bracket stencil over that and brayered away.  When that dried, I put orange on the craft mat and inked up the brayer.  The bracket stencil was placed on the paper again and I brayered away.  Once that dried, I stamped the grunge on the card.

The sunshine had yellow paint brayered over the stamp.  Once dried, I put sparkle embossing power because this sun has to SHINE!  Grunge was stamped on the edges.  The sun rays did not stand out so I used an Elegant Writer to draw a line under each ray.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed with white embossing powder.

I love this mixed media card.

Thanks for stopping in and if you would like, let me know what you think.

Take Flight

So I have been reading tutorials and trying new techniques this month.  I saw this tutorial on STAMPlorations but I cannot find the post to give Shery credit. I usually have the supplies, it is just using the supplies in a new way.

This is a timeless TAC stamp.  I embossed the butterfly in black embossing powder on watercolor paper.  Then I put watercolor on the butterfly wings and added extra so it would drip down.  Once it dried, I stamped grunge on the outside of the card.  I stamped the sentiment by th butterfly and because the watercolor paper is rough, it added extra grunge to the sentiment.

Perfect Poppies

The poppy has become a nationally known and recognized symbol of sacrifice and is worn to honor the men and women who served and died for their country in all wars.

Many of us have family members who have served in the Armed Forces.  My father, uncles, brother and nephews are either veterans or active service members.  My oldest son is a veteran of Iraq.

The life long sacrafice the service members have given to us is an amazing gift.    That is why the poppy is such a special flower to me.

MHK Designs new release is Perfect Poppies.

The new Party Hardy paper is used on this card along with Perfect Poppies.

Check out MHK Designs to find out how you can win this set or the entire release for free!  Check out all the design team's inspiration and give them some love as they have created awesome cards and projects for this week's new releases!

Color Throwdown at the Aquarium

Today I thank Color Throwdown for the opportunity to be their featured stamper.  I love the colors that are this weeks color inspiration

The colors worked well as I tried a new technique.  I used distress paint and applied it to a craft sheet. After brayering the colors together, I put down a stencil.  I placed a sheet of paper over the stencil and made my first print.  Then I removed the stencil and made my second print that is used on this card.

I stamped and embossed the fish and coral with clear embossing powder.  I hand cut the sea weed out of my first print.  Then I embossed the sentiment and added some small shells.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see your creation at the Color Throwdown this week!

Stitched Sunflowers

I am so excited with the new MHK Designs release, Stitched Sunflowers.  I love sunflowers and how their little heads turn through the day to face the sun.

There is a little quote, "I want to be a sunflower, so even on the darkest days I can stand tall and find the sun."

I used paper from MHK Designs called Beautifully Borcade.

Thanks for stopping by and check out the new releases and join us in the monthly challence starting April 21.

Fruit Boarders

Using a new release from MHK Designs, this fun card was made.  It reminds me of when we went to California and picked fresh lemons.  We carted a bag of plump, lucious, fresh picked lemons home to Wisconsin and made fresh lemonade.  I do not think I have tasted lemonade any better!

Thanks for stopping by and have a sunny day!

MHK Designer Inspiration: Jerrie

Let's talk itty bitty.  Teensy Tiny.  Size matters.  No super sizing here!

The finished size of this is the size of a post it note.  But let me tell you, if you use your realestate well, you can add a lot of detail!

I Wheely Like this card and my DT member Asha received it in a card exchange.

Besides using the Wheel Like You set, Can you guess what other sets are used?  Did I use any MHK Designs paper on the card?

This is zoomed in so you can see the metallic bike made with glitter and alcohol markers.   There is also an itty bitty butterfly on the sentiment.

So, have you guessed what sets were used?
See below.  And thank you for visiting my blog!!

Monarch

This Monarch stamp with the flowers is a beauty!

I used some distress sprays to create the background and splatters.  I am really liking this white emboss on the black paper.  It seems to give the card a mondern feel.

Hope you enjoy!

Vintage Sunshine

A grungy, vintage card today.  I went to my first garage sale of the year at the scrapbook store.  People bring in their slightly used supplies and they are sold.  Then they get a credit at the store to buy new supplies.  You sill find stamps, cutting supplies, embellishments, paper and other craft supplies.  Believe me...you will only move through the sale as fast as the person in front of you as they go through all the stamps, paper etc!

So, I mixed some of these supplies...I behaved myself...and mixed some of my garage sale supplies with my supplies on hand to make this card.

This is a mixed media card as I used DI, clear embossing powder on the sun rays, an acrylic piece over the circle on the sun, distress spray for the splatters, twine, and a metal brad.
