gelatos and stencils

On this card, I tried new techniques: gelatos and stencils.  So this card is for the new beginnings when people resolve a DV situation.  It is also for the person who instigates DV to change their behavior.

Beautiful

This card was designed for the women who have suffered domestic violence and have forgotten how beautiful they are.  It is also for the people who reach out to help them.

Flutter

This card is for the person in a domestic violence relationship that flutters between the explosive episodes and is trying to decide how to resolve the situation.

You are not the only person that has had a DV situation and there is help out there if you reach for it.

For this card, I got my watercolors and stencils out.

Snowman Angel

This is one of my favorite stamps. I love the stick hair and the little heart on the snowman's chest.

I embossed the background paper with a snowflake folder. Red and black are a great color combo. After I stamped and colored the snowman, glitter was put over the entire image.

Ombre Butterflies

With a little help from the wax paper in the kitchen cupboard, Ombre Butterflies was created.

To make the background, a piece of wax paper was run through an embossing folder. Then, the wax paper was sandwiched between to shets of glossy paper. Because the wax is on both sides, this will make two backgrounds. Now, iron your sandwich to get the wax to resist when you apply the ink to the glossy paper. Then one piece of paper was brayered using a Kalidescope ink pad. Take a paper towel and rub the paper to make the white shine through. I absolutely love the look the background has and did not want to cover much of it up.

Butterflies were staped and fussy cut.

Here is another look

Grapes Of Wrath

One of the meanings of Grapes of Wrath is an explosive condition. Another meaning is an unjust or oppressive situation or oolicy that may inflame desire for vengence. Domestic violence can be just that. This card is for when the domestic violence become the explosive condition.

When I first made my prints, I did not make the first print. I put the paper over to make the negative print or second print and wasted a lot of paint. That is when Becca got the call for instuructions!! When I made the print, there were some distressed areas. I thought it looked cool. Then I wanted to use purple grapes but wondered if they would show against the bold background. I decided to seperate it a little with green leaves and pop some of the grape bunches up. I added a green ribbon. There are also three purple gems on the popped bunches of grapes.

Stamps used: one of my very first Stamping Up sets.

Cycadelic

Cycadelic is a free bird that has freedom from the domestic violence situation.

Caution, you will see bold and bright ahead!!

I was digging through my scrap box and found a Becca piece of paper. When I saw it with the vivid purple, orange and green it was meant to be a card for this hop! A purple bird would be the perfect color, as far as bird colors go.

Using Freshly Made Sketch #205 and a Unity stamp called Sparky, Cycadelic (had to look up the spelling) was created. I want to thank all the sponsors for supporting the Hop to STOP domestic violence. Through the days of the hop, I hope to use as many of your products as I can.
Please accept my appologies in advance if you are a sponsor and your products are not represented on my blog.

After stamping and coloring Sparky with copic markers, a second image was cut and the eyes and beak were cut and popped up.

Thanks for stopping by.
