It is snowy and cold in Wisconsin today. A day to stay inside and PLAY!! Flashback Friday Challenge has the theme only words. I used STAMPlorations Bold Sentiments and created this card. I had an old piece of pink paper I made with Worn Lipstick DI.
It is clean and simple and I kinda like the sentiment embossed on the diagonal.

I love you
I have been having fun using dry wall tape as a dimension. Shery Russ at STAMPlorations did a tutorial on it. Shery must be a patient soul because for me, it was a slow process. I wanted to lift the drywall tape with each splattering of distress ink but did not because I was afraid it would move the pattern. When I was finished with the stenciling I saw the red on top of the hearts and the pink in the dry wall pattern below. It looked like the red was bleeding down and I liked the look. So, I stamped the swirl in greeen, cut the ribbon hearts out with a Memory Box die and then saved all the heart pieces to put back inside the cut out. I know...that is why it is a die cut...but the image did not look filled in against the background. I dipped the ribbon ends in Fired Brick DI. I stamped I love you in the swirls and added white sequins. I like this clean and simple card.

House of Cards http://www.houseofcardschallenge.blogspot.com/2015/02/love-challenge-week-one.html
A Very Special Valentine
Recently, I lost my mother. She loved nature images and did a fantastic job coloring and designing cards with them. At our last family card exchange, she had been working on this card. Stop crying Becca.
While going through the house, there was one unused image. Everyone said to throw it away but I could not. I scooped it up knowing I would use it to make something very special.
Every year, I would send mom a valentine card. Today, I made her last valentine with the image she colored and I will keep it forever. Honestly, I think this is my all time favorite.
I used Old Paper DI on the background. Then I stenciled little spots with Vintage Photo DI. I inked only one image of an embossing folder three times and carefully place it where I wanted the image. If I had a stamp it would have been easier but necessity is the mother of invention. I dyed twine and placed it to make two lines. I cut out the word LOVE and inked it. Mom had a ceramic shop and while cleaning we found the rub on paints she used. Once again I grabbed them from the trash bin and rubbed them on the LOVE. It gives it a highlight of gold. Then I carefully cut the cardnials out, knowing there would never be any more. I placed them on the lower line. I glued the LOVE on the upper line and made clothes pins with cardstock.
I know my mom would have loved her valentine. I am going to frame it and keep it in my craft room.
And as mom would always finish the conversation...MWAH!

Get Well
I wanted to try something different this week. I gathered up all my get well stamps and they are all different fonts. So I stamped them on the card and then hit them with distress ink and a ton of water. When they dried, I glued on the get well beads. I added two flower beads and stems. Then I cut the bottom of the card and glued the black strip on the back of the cut off portion on the cardstock. Then I glued the pink paper on the bottom cardstock. I kinda like how this card turned out for trying something new.

Maybe a cupcake would help
STAMPlorationshttp://stamplorations.blogspot.com/2015/02/caseplorations.html
has a great new challenge on their site. It is called CASEplorations. This is Julie's CASE card.
I wanted to use the same elements Julie had used like white space, gold thread, splatters, pink frosting, sequins, black banner and dots. I also wanted to make it mine so here is what I did. I used pink frosting and red sequin hearts. The gold thread is the candle flame and circle on the banner. The splatters are in the white space and the dots circling the cupcake. There is a black banner and then black paper under the cupcake. Because Julie is know for using an unexpected element, I added a glitzy heart on the banner and stamped happy birthday. Are there any elements I missed?
